Personal Statement

My work explores interactions between text and image, between designer and audience, and between physical and digital space. I’m interested in examining the tools and processes we use to communicate, to create, and to understand.

Biography

Jenny Kowalski’s work explores design pedagogy, accessibility, and experimentation in interaction and tactility. Her creative graphic and interactive design work bridges visual communication design, user experience design, creative coding, and embroidery to explore what emerging technology can and cannot do. 

Kowalski has taught at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture and the University of Dayton. Her design work has been recognized by Communication Arts, Graphis, Graphic Design USA,  LogoLounge, the Horizon Interactive Awards, and Creative Quarterly. She frequently presents her work at conferences related to design education including the College Art Association Annual Conference, the AIGA Design Educators Conference, SECAC (formerly the Southeastern College Art Conference), the University and College Design Education Summit, and Design Principles & Practices.
