Personal Statement

Paper engineering is the perfect combination of my technical undergraduate education and expressive graduate education. It allows me to critically consider the use of kinetic developable surfaces to convey ideas and emotions, then nerd out calculating the geometry of motion.

In Hawaiian culture, the importance of kuleana is stressed. Like every word in ‘ōlelo Hawai‘i it has a multiplicity of meanings including privilege and responsibility. After honing my craft as a designer, it is my kuleana to use my gifts to contribute back to the lāhui.
